One of the worst experiences for a newly minted food adventurer is to walk into an ethnic food market and be treated like you're a foreign invader. That's why we identify markets that are "Certified Friendly," meaning that someone from the NJ Flavors staff who is of a different ethnicity than the market has visited and can vouch for the following:
-There were no evil stares, cold shoulders or other obvious displays of unfriendliness
- Questions about the food were readily answered
- The staff was, if not eager, then at least willing, to share the joys of their cuisine with an outsider
